What are the main benefits that come from using Homefire Heat Logs?

Choosing the right fuel source for your fire isn’t easy, as there are lots of things you need to think about. At Homefire, one of our most popular products is our bag of ultra-dry, high energy Shimada Heat Logs. To help you decide if they’re the ideal fuel for your fire, we will run through some of the benefits of our heat logs below and illustrate why they’re such a popular choice with our current customers.

100% chemical-free

Our heat logs are 100% clean and come with no additives or chemicals. This is a super important consideration when you’re looking for the right firewood for your home.

When you burn wood that is treated with chemicals or has certain additives - often referred to as pressure-treated wood - you expose yourself to a range of potential health and environmental issues. It’s always better to opt for firewood that is 100% natural and free from any chemicals, as you can burn it in your home fire without worrying about the health implications of doing so.

Ultra dry and easy to light

Homefire logs

Our heat logs are ultra-dry and are extremely easy to light. They have been dried to a moisture content of between 10% and 15%, ensuring they burn extremely well and emit less than 10g of smoke per hour. Again, the moisture content of your chosen firewood is extremely important to think about.

In 2021, the UK government announced a ban on the sale of wet wood in units under 2m3. In other words, you are legally required to ensure that the wood you burn in your home fireplace has been sufficiently dried. In addition to our ultra-dry heat logs, our kiln-dried firewood has been dried to a moisture content of 20% or less and is another great option for your home fire.

Made from compressed wood

Our Shimada heat logs are made from compressed wood, meaning they have a higher calorific value than traditional firewood. When you add them to your fire, they heat up more quickly and release more energy in the form of heat - hence the name.

The fact that they’re compressed also means that they hold their shape well during burning, which helps the structure of your fire. This is why we refer to our heat logs as a high energy fuel source and is another reason why they’re one of our most popular products for home fireplaces.

Can be used for multiple fireplaces

Our heat logs are perfect for multiple fireplaces and can serve various uses for your home fire setup. For instance, they’re ideal for use in wood burners, multi-fuel stoves, open fires, and even chimeneas.

You can use them in indoor or outdoor fireplaces, and you can be sure that they will burn bright and true throughout the night.

They’re also really popular because they’re really easy to light, and you don’t need to struggle for an eternity trying to get your fire started. When you build a fire with our heat logs and use one of our fire starters, you will have no issues igniting the perfect home fire this autumn or winter.

Choose the right fuel for your fire today

Our heat logs are one of our best sellers and for several good reasons, as explained above. Whether you opt for an individual pack of Shimada heat logs or go for a handy fire pit bundle, choose the right fuel for your fire today and ensure you can effortlessly start your home fire when the long and cold nights of winter set in.
